Everytime I say Halifax a really bad swear word follows! Here we go! Help really appreciated on this one. Ok I am a new poster completely new to this site and computer stuff so please be gentle with me. Ok had a credit card with halifax and a personal loan both taken out at same time. Along with their ppi. I became ill in november 2010 and learned when I tried to claim on insurance that it wasnt worth a penny. firstly as I am self employed secondly as its a previous health problem and thirdly my second related health problem is depression. Nothing is covered by this. I paid good money for this insurance £3600 on my personal loan I dont know how much on my credit card. I havent kept all the statements. They have made me an offer on the credit card ppi of £1900 I dont know if this is fair or not. Everytime I ask for details of premuim paid I am passed from operator to operator. The loan is still to be sorted. I made this complaint in december 2010 it feels like they are being really obstructive. Its making my depression worse everytime I ring I get more frustrated. I am never put through to right department no one ever calls me back etc. Any advice really appreciated thanks in advance

Hi and welcome
May I ask how long ago you taken out the credit card account?
If the account was taken pre 6 years ago they may not any longer hold any data going beyond that, so they will calculate as from the last 6 years.
Otherwise it maybe a good idea to request a Subject Access Request (SAR) where they have 40 calender days to comply and send the data they hold on the account(s).
If you had loans and credit cards with the same bank, then one SAR is sufficient, but I would still specifically enclose the 2 account numbers on the SAR request.
You enclose a one off payment of £10 cheque or postal order, there is a FULL SAR letter template below if you want to use this.

However, before you decide on this, have you wrote and questioned then on the calculations?
They may send you a full detailed written breakdown on request.
Good luck with this, please keep us posted. The one and only "Dizzy Di"
