BT Infinity IP profiles - same system as for ADSL?

Hi,
My Dad's just got his FTTC broadband put it today. His IP profile is still at the crappy <512kbps level of his ADSL line. Does anyone know how long it typically takes for the IP profile to recognise the faster line speed? When I had a noise problem a few years back that cripppled my ADSL profile, it took about 5 days for it to go back up after the problem was solved. Is that still the case now?
He mentioned the BT engineer guy had said something about 39Mbps downstream speed. Looks like my 8Mbps will look pretty puny now. He's struggled along at 512kbps for so long though so he deserves it!
Thanks

All I've got to work on is what my non-techie Dad could relay to me over the phone. The FTTC broadband requires a different type of router (VDSL?) so that'll have been newly installed today. The Plusnet fibre packarge he's moved to offers up to 40Mb. His upload speed has already increased so I think it's just the IP profile (which can be viewed on the Plusnet portal) holding him back. I may pop round tomorrow and have a shufty.0

I think he'd have more success calling Plusnet to ask than asking you so you can ask here and get uneducated guesses.0

IP profiles do still exist on BT FTTC products, the trouble is it's too new a system to be well-understood as yet. Interesting thread here on the subject, it's into 8 pages now but well worth reading:-

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0
