hitachi simple external 1TB Harddrive

can anyone tell me standard SATA drive, have removed from case as there was a problem with the usb connection

is it simply same as fitting normal internal h/d, I mean can I put it into caddy and then remove all stuff of it just like a normal desktop h/d?

Yes - it is an internal drive.

SATA connection is basically and L shape connection whereas an IDE/PATA is a block ususally 40 or 44 depending on 2.5 or 3.5in

you can pick up a cheap but nice USB enclosure from NOVATECH for £8, I've bought one in the last week, screwless case and easy to fit 3.5in desktop. see link.

you didnt state whether the external you took out was a 2.5in or 3.5in drive.
