Who knows!
I suppose it doen't really matter either.
It's a shame they didn't publish the figures for the quintiles this year as it did give a little bit more information about the spread of the results.0 -

I've been thinking about your situation and I think if it were my DD I'd go ahead and put Ballymena Academy down as 1st choice and Cambridge House as second choice as her happiness is also very important in all of this. You never know, you might get a very pleasant surprise in May if she gets into the Academy after all and if you don't put it down as 1st choice and subsequently hear that other kids got in with your your DDs score or lower, how will you feel then? The lowest scores accepted by various schools have changed considerably betweeen the 1st and 2nd years of AQE/GL - it really just seems to depend upon how many kids apply to each particular school each year. Fingers crossed.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Does an AQE score of 97 seem too low for RBAI?
It seems a great school for my DS, I would love it if he was able to get in there but am really worrying his score might be too low to get in0 -
Absolutely not.
If you look at the info given in a link to a Kip Magrath sitegiven in the first post on page 9 you will see that they took 59 boys with scores between 88 and 98 last year.0 -
Well last year there were children taken from the 4th quintile which was 88 to 98 so I dont see any reason why not0

Great minds Runninggal! (Or fools, depending on your out look!)
I was searching for the right page as I am not yet allowed to post links!0 -
I hope so!
It seems the lowest cut off is going up for the past two years/the marks are getting tighter around the 100 mark and am hoping this doesn't affect applying to Inst. Although that could be completely untrue - it just seems from the marks his friends got, they all seem about the same mark: around 105-1100 -
I really don't think you have anything to worry about.
Inst have had a reputation for a very broad intake for many years now. In the first year of this system they took 31 boys from that 4th Quintile and as the numbers of kids in each year falls it would follow that the entry requirements would tend to fall too.
I see RBAI are quoting the quintiles in their entrance criteria for this year even though parents were not given the boundaries of those with the results.
I wonder if a phone call to them would allow you to discover which quintile your son's mark falls into?0 -
