Thank-you, I have just got all our families holiday medicines for less than £15.00. Probably more than twice that in Boots0

A colleague of my was asking for some nurofen once and I offered her ibuprofen, she said no I need nurofen, I told her it was exactly the same drug but she wouldn't have it and went without. Madness just for the sake of a different coating on the pills.30+ years working in banking0 -

Probably worth a mention that Sainsbury's instore pharmacies sell their own thrush tablets too for £2.40. I don't know why but in my local they keep them in the back - ask for thrush tablets and they immediately reach for the Canesten, but I ask if they have any of their own in and they usually have. It's scandalous that I can buy 4 of these for the price of one Canesten tablet.0

its because they give them out on prescription as the government only pay pennies a capsule where as you want to get rid of thrush asap so theyre preying on that your uncomfortable and more than likely slightly embarrased and thus will just pay whatever they say theyre being cheekyGiddy_kipper wrote: »Probably worth a mention that Sainsbury's instore pharmacies sell their own thrush tablets too for £2.40. for anyone else going on holiday you can't beat tesco for malaria tablets they actually sell them for a fair bit less than they buy them in at but they do tell you your prescription will be an hour in the hope that you'll do a weeks shopping while you wait. not even boots or independants can price match it is a huge saving on malarone

Hi
Does anyone know what a good generic substitute for beechams all in one would be? It really works when we have colds but is v expensive. Active ingredients are paracetamol 200mg, guaifenisin 100mg, phenylephrine 5mg. I can't have anything with caffeine in which normally rules out loads of options as all the non-drowsy or fast acting ones have it in them. Thanks :-)0 -
Hi checked on the mhra website and boots, superdrug, wilkos, sainsburys, asda and galpharm were all granted licences to make and sell thier own version, you can even veiw the packagingHi

i have seen them (i think) in asda before i never buy all in one products though as they are not really proven and more of a money maker, you can get the paracetamol and phenylphrine in one capsule from asda and you get 16 for 68p they guaifenisin is not really proven to work on coughs but if you like it get it as a syrup and take it in a little hot water it should work better, generic chesty cough syrup is not that expensive. people tend to abuse it if you take too much guaifenisin you get a bit of a head rush and there has been some evidence to show that it can be similar to a 'trip' so they tend to put another active ingredient in the branded ones such as paracetamol like the all in ones to police them selves so that it is not switched to a prescription only medicine so just check what your buying
