Overlaying second layer of insulation

I have a partly boarded loft which we never use except for a very few stored items and I was wondering if I can just lay space blanket insulation over the top to stop the considerable heat loss through my bedroom ceiling. Cant afford anyone to do it - dont have the expertise oe energy (arthritic middle aged woman etc etc)to take up boards and redo. Is this feasible as it was so cold last year that I'm really quite worried about keepng warm this winter.

Yes you can, however it may be cheaper for you to get a firm in to do it for you. Cost around £99 to get you up to 270mm depth. Ring your council for a trusted trader in your area.
If there is no or less than 100mm then your energy supplier may do it for free.

PS Wickes have a 2 for the price of 1 offer on space blanket if thats the wasy you wish to go.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
