Computer Virus Scam over Landline

I do not know if anyone here has ever heard of this or how well it is known, I haven't had it happen to me before but about 20 minutes ago some ******* (I made the stars to show my irritation) phone up telling me I had a computer virus, and I assume that for a small fee I can give him access to my computer to fix it...He did get slightly angry when I demanded to know what company he was contacting me from lol (I really do not hate scammers...especially when there is pretty much no computer problem I cannot fix myself lol)

I just want to give people the heads up, regardless of your tech skills to be on the lookout for these, yes, they will take the fee and then demand they get remote access to your computer, then they can do whatever they damn well please.

I suggest if you do get one of these people contacting you try to get any and all information you can, even if it is a phone number by 1471 and report them to the Action Fraud group :)

You might want to check that link, and where is the harm in reminding people?

This is a forum, and OBVIOUSLY one topic for all is not at all helpful.

I stated previously that I didn't know how many people were aware of it...

Most regulars on this forum have seen this dozens of times and most newcomers are only interested in a solution to the issue they are visiting about.

I usually ignore such threads as the posters get shirty if they are told about the hundreds of previous post on the topic.

Which is an indication to use the search :)

Once to make a point I went and replied to each of the phone scam threads from July-August, and together they took up most of the first page.
