Thanks that seems to have done the trick....why would the date and time make it do that ?

There are surprisingly a lot of very reputable websites that have this issue including Hubpages, which is one of the most trafficked sites on the internet, so if you do know and trust the site I wouldn't see it as an issue.

However, I would go through every single bookmark and check every URL to make sure none have been tampered with, going even so far as to manually replace them if I am especially paranoid :p

This is why I do not let ANYONE near my computer harddrive, you never know what they might do.

It is simply a case of differing timezones, and if you are setting your computer time off a wristwatch how sure are you that your watch is accurate?

So what tends to happen is that the time your computer says and the other computer, there is a slight discrepancy.

I do not know if I explained it well ... I'm sorry lol

    From the link
This problem can occur if the client computer's clock is set so that the date/time is later than the expiry date of the web server's SSL certificate.

If the time/date's wrong, it looks as though the certificate has expired (when it hasn't), hence you get the warning.

You should, unless it only a few days out of date, you no way of knowing you are connected to the right website.

Why? it not a sign that someone's tampering with your computer, instead it suggests they are tampering with the network. If someone was trying to phish by altering your bookmarks they would ensure any certificates were valid.

Small errors do not matter for TLS/SSL.

Not needed on Windows XP and later, that feature built-in and enabled by default.

@Sparhawke ---- the time/date was wrong ie that was why the certs "appear" to be invalid. Common cause with Desktops with flat motherboard battery, as to why laptop came back with wrong date/time muppets in repair shop probably.
