ipod questions

firstly apologies if these are totaly noob questions, i know enough about techie bits to get me by but new things confuse me a little :o please be kind!

i'm wanting some form of mp3 player to replace my minidisc for use in the gym/street etc i was thinking of getting an ipod and was won over when i found out they do a red one (apparently it cures aids in africa!?!). it comes in 4gb and 8gb and i was gonna go for the larger so i can put pretty much my whole music collection on it. but i got a few questions.

1- can you only put music on it through itunes or can i just transfer the music i already have on my pc?
2- are ipods actually as good as they are cracked up to be or should i look elsewhere?
3- does anyone have any better suggestions for me?

thanks very much my darlings x

ps i was gonna get it on the apple store through quidco, £169, no postage and 3% cashback, any better offers than that?

  • I bought an Ipod earlier this year and love it. Ipod are the ones to go for if you like gadgets to go with them. The Itunes disc that comes with Ipod will set up Itunes on your computer and i find it very easy to use.

You can store all your CD's on Itunes as well as buying albums and singles from the Istore. I know some who hate Itunes but I am not techie enough to know why - i love it and my Ipod

As far as I have been able to do (only had my ipod a couple of weeks), you need to transfer the tunes on your PC into the itunes library which is as easy as dragging them across, to then transfer to your ipod.

Probably a bit time consuming if you have lots of music stored on your comp, but easy enough to do.

So far, i LOVE my ipod.

that was really what i was wanting to hear. i didn't want to have to buy my music again just to put it on the ipod.

if they are unprotected mp3's they can be put on an ipod, but if they were bought legally from a download site such as tesco downloads they will be a protected wma file which aren't compatible with the ipod

Ipods are fine but you do tend to pay a premium for the name. The only advice i have heard about hem is to ditch the supplied headphones and get some decent ones, that applies to most MP3 players however.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die
