Laying wooden flooring (pic provided!)

If I were to pay a firm to lay wooden flooring like the one in the picture below, how much approximately would it cost if the floor was already carpeted, or if the floor already had a wooden or laminate floor?

It would be hard to give you a price without knowing dimensions of the room, what type of subfloor you have, is the subfloor sound, etc. I'm a laminate floor fitter and i always ask the customer to lift up the old flooring, mainly to save on costs.

No idea about costs but love the picture of the floor.

I have to say though that shiny hard floors are the devil to keep looking as fantastic as in the photo. My friend has a beautiful bamboo floor and she complains about it every day. It scratches and does not look good unless you get down on your hands and knees and polish it.

We have an oak effect laminate which we have had down for about 4 years. It still looks really good and only needs a swish and a swipe to keep it clean.
