Wallcoatings UK Ltd

This company did the outside of my house for me in 2004 and I received a 15 year guarantee.
Generally I was very pleased with the result, but this year there has been some cracking on one of the walls.
The phone number in Bury St Edmunds I have is no longer connected
A search shows a company of the same name was dissolved in 2006
A Google search shows another company called wall-coatings Uk. I have tried phoning them on their sales number but it says they are not available. Their is nothing listed under their contact us details. The only way to do it is to get them to phone back, which I will do as a last resort
I am generally of the opinion that this a lost cause but if anybody could help I would be grateful
I find the wall-coatings site a bit odd I must admit, which is why I have hesitated in making contact with them, but happy to be proved wrong.

Wallcoatings are probably the biggest con in the construction industry.
For centuries buildings have existed without them. Then in the latter part of the 20th century someone knocks at a homeowners door and says "if you don't buy this your house will fall down, you will loose your job, you will go bankrupt, the sun will fall from the sky and land on Milton Keynes and it will all be your fault". Homowner says "OK I'll buy it then". They also say "Oh and we'll give you a 15 year guarantee" and homowner say "marvellous".
What the wall coating company don't tell the Mr Homeowner is that they have no intention of honouring the guarantee as they know the product will fail after 5 years so they (legally) dissolve the company and start a new one with a very similar name, but which is actually a completely different legal entity.
This is also the case in bottom end double glazing firms, conservatory firms etc.
Reality is that you were sold a product that your house didn't need and you jave no comeback.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Thanks for the reply
I have to say that so far I have been pleased with the product. If it lasts another three to four years then the cost will have equated to what local people pay for a painter, and the finish has never faded.
The area that has shown a crack is quite small and on an exposed wall that was in a very poor state when we moved in. The render was blown on about 25% of the wall.
I wasn't aware that this industry had such a poor reputation, and in my experience I find it a shame that it is the case. I suppose it will not be the first industry to destroy itself by trying to eliminate the competition rather than focussing on supplying a superior product
I think I will have to work out how I can make good the damaged area before the damage spreads. We still have some of the material that they used in a drum, but it was applied by machine and I can't imagine it will be any good now.
Once again thanks0
