we had one and the messages were amazing! and i am so glad we had one
if you think about it its very cheap to do and worth it! there are other ideas- signing frame is one of them

the best message i had was from my uncle saying that my aunty (who died) would be very proud of me :)

the other messages were lovely- wishing us luck, saying that the day has been perfect, etc etc

in my opinion well worth it!

When we got married we had a 'wedding plate' for people to sign. It was the first time anyone at the wedding had seen one and it can be displayed instead of hidden away in a drawer. Ohhh Happy Days!

It was a real last minute decision for us to have one, and I nearly forgot to send it out, but I'm really glad we did.

It was great fun reading all the funny & thoughtful messages after the wedding. :)

Never heard of that one before but I like the idea of it..... something different and as you say it can be displayed.

    Ours was similar to this:

I really would recommend it if you want something but a bit different. We also found that people took the business of writing messages quite seriously as they knew once it was on it wasn't coming off! You can put them in the oven to make the ink permenant enough to be able to eat off!

We also had a traditional guest book matching the colour scheme provided by my oldest bridesmaid; she herded people up to sign it and some of the things in there are very heart touching and others are just hilarious!
  • We are going to use a guest book that was a gift - so it doesn't match. But who cares about it matching? Not me! When I'm reading lovely messages in 10 years time, I'll be glad that I have the kind words, and won't spare a thought about it not matching.

I like writing in these books, and will love reading comments after our wedding. If neither of you are sentimental like that - then don't bother. It's your choice!

I think it boils down to how you two like to remember things. Some people love video, and haul out their wedding vid on anniversaries etc to remember the day. Others like to keep cards stored safely under a bed to show grandchildren on a rainy day. Some people like something to keep on display all the time, and enjoy photos (or sparx's lovely plate idea!). Some people like written messages, and guest books can be great fun - I always try to write something legible, heartfelt, a bit cheeky and kind..

It's up to you - I admit we haven't even considered this yet. If you're the sort of person who likes written messages and sentiments (like me - I keep all my favourite text messages going back years) then great. If you're more visual or aural, perhaps a video booth or videographer, or perhaps even a digital voice recorder!

Whatever you choose I'm sure you'll find a lovely way of remembering your day :)

  • Thank you everyone for your opinions -- I've made a decision!

As they are relatively cheap, I'm going to get one. I agree it's a bit Bridezilla-ish to be worrying that it's not matching, so I'll get a plain-ish one.

I think it's better to have one, even if we only get a couple of really lovely messages that we didn't expect. I think better that than to regret not having one.

    Thank you again!
