I don't know if I'm just suffering from Wedding Fatigue but I don't think I want a Guest Book at [STRIKE]my[/STRIKE] our wedding.
Am I going to regret this? I think my main thing is that it won't match the stationery. I never know what to write in the blimmin things when I go to weddings so I don't know whether to have one or not.
Are there arguments for and against?
PS I know this is a trivial matter but am grateful for opinions, thank you.

we didnt have one...we got lots of photos of everyone at the wedding and made sure we spoke to everyone there so didnt feel the need to have one...I suppose its nice if youre the sort that likes to look back and certain things will trigger a memory...but for me it wasnt a book...and like you as a guest I never have a clue what to write...
I do think that the photo frame is a great alternative...people can sign the frame and you insert a nice pic of the 2 of you to remember the day!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

We didn't have one either, I just don't read things back and nor does DH so we didn't see the point! We don't keep cards either. I certainly don't regret it
If I have to write in one it's normally something quite corny lol Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -
I went to a wedding recently which was the first time I've ever seen a guest book so it really isn't essential.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I have never seen a guest book at wedding...I cant see the point of having one. I wouldnt know what to put in it. IMO its much nicer and more personal to speak to the bride and groom and tell them what a lovely day you have had and how beautiful the bride looks or whatever compliments you wish to pass on to them.0

I've seen a few guest books at weddings over the past few years, but never know what to say either! By that stage I'm probably too tipsy and have already put my well wishes in their card anyway.
However, I have seen some cool guest-book-related ideas recently, like this one (a mini guest book per table that you add pics afterwards) and this one or this one (a guest fingerprint balloon/tree that you can frame later).
We're having a guest book as part of our photobooth hire - the guests get a print to take home and another print goes in the book, where they can add messages if they wish to.0 -
We chose to have a guest book. it didn't match the stationary... i'm sure no one even noticed. it was just an ebay one for less than £5. Its nice looking back at some of the lovely things people wrote as well as the funny things people went back to write when a little tipsy :-)0

We had one and I love it! I don't particularly like having to think of what to write when we go to someone elses wedding because I'm terrible with wording but I love all the little messages people left for us.
I agree it's nice to speak to the bride and groom personally and theres no reason that can't be done too but if you're anything like us we really struggled to get round everybody at our wedding. It's also a nice way for people to leave a little message if they're not normally soppy, my brother left a lovely one which he would probably never say to me![STRIKE]Getting married to[/STRIKE] Married my soul mate on

Not that I'm ever tipsy at weddings or otherwise but the wedding I saw one the guest book was on a table just inside the doorway when you came into the church for the service.

I'll be having one.
i like reading things like that
I still have (& occassionally read) my school leavers book0 -
I bought one from the charity shop last week. We don't even have a date yet or a venue or a dress. Just a guest book! But I'm thinking about having a photo booth, so the plan would be to stick each picture in the book and then people can write a message next to their picture.0
