LCD display disappearing on central heating control!

Could anyone please advise me if it's possible to somehow fix a digital display that is slowly disappearing?! I have a wireless room thermostat for a Worcester Bosch boiler (DT20RF), it's all working perfectly but the display is almost non existent, you can't see what the temperature is, and what you are setting it to. I'm loathe to pay around £140 for a whole new unit (understand you have to buy both the programmer and the receiver as a set) when it's working fine, just not showing me the information. I wondered if there's any way these displays can be fixed? Suspect not, but thought it worth asking in case anyone has had a similar experience. Thank you! (PS - have changed batteries several times, so know that's not the issue).

it depends on how the lcd is connected to the board

Some lcds can be repaired by simply cleaning the contacts to the PCB.

If it was me i would take it apart and clean the lcd contacts on the PCB and go from there.
You got to get through what you've got to go through to get what you want but you got to know what you want to get through what you got to go through.

Although you've changed the batteries, I would check the battery terminals to make sure they are making a good connection and have not become corroded.

If you have to get a new unit though, give the WB tech helpline a call, as they're very good. You may not have to buy both sender and receiver?

    Good luck

PS - I have a bolier cover contract with WB which costs me about £140 a year. This includes the annual service/inspection and although mine is only 5 years old, have called them out 3 times (diverter valve stuck, PRV leaking and the wireless control intermittently failed to control the boiler). So for me, the costs have been worthwhile.

Thanks for the advice. I took it apart as far as felt safe before I broke it, and have looked at the connections, but think the display is well and truly dead. Good idea to look into the WB service contract, it sounds like that would be a good deal, and peace of mind. Hope I can get mine for around £140 as well!

You're not using rechargeable battery's are you?

The wall unit won't work if you are.

Only good quality alkaline ones should be used.
