How safe is telling security details in front of the bank clerk?

Options
I have a euro account with Barclays. I had a problem with the statements being sent to a wrong address and the bank clerk just phone the euro account team and pass me the phone and I had to answer all security questions on front of him. How safe is that?

Well you've told them to one member of staff, so why not two?

Did he know what questions were being asked or were there some obvious gaps? You could have asked him to leave the room if you were uncomfortable.

Perhaps the person on the other end of the phone is more likely to defraud you.

But unless he wants to defraud you and lose his job, there's no issue. I'd suggest he has access to cash and other information in his day to day duties.

At the end of the day, there's an element of trust involved. There's also the knowledge that if your account is hit by fraud you'll be reimbursed.

As long as you aren't telling them PIN and internet log on details then there is no issue.

Banks have monitor their systems so if the clerk decides to help himself to your account he will get sacked immediately.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

Everyhing is logged on the accounts so whatever you do they know.

When I queried something with the internet banking team at Lloyds TSB they knew everything I did online, like a full audit trail like looked at my statement, made a transfer, clicked on this link etc etc etc. I was quite surprised, everything is monitored to the n'th degree.

So I would imagine that everthing a bank teller does is monitored equally, and any wrong doing would get flagged up immediatly.
