I want to buy a new washing machine-possibly this one which comes with a 5 year warranty by registering online here
Can I buy the machine from somewhere cheaper eg appliances online and register it for the 5 year warranty? I can't see anywhere that is has to come from John Lewis-am I just being blind?
Thanks

Or should I just increase the budget and get this one? Seems to work out at £100 per year-gotta be good, especially if it lasts longer? I have heard Miele are the bees knees

The terms and conditions state:
I can't however see a list of who the participating stockists are. There is a dealer search, but that seems more general. Why not ring them and ask?1. The offer is valid only between the dates shown in participating stores and on the Siemens internet at https://www.siemens-home.co.uk .
2. This offer applies to new appliances only purchased through participating Siemens stockists. It does not apply to appliances purchased second hand or through private sales.0 -
Thanks,
I just emailed them to ask0 -
Hmm, OK, now I am totally torn between this siemens one at £499 or the miele one at £999..... 5 year/10 year warranty respectively.
Does anyone have an opinion on either machine?0 -
Hi
If you can afford it then it is a 'no brainer' - Miele every time! It will not only last 2 to 3 times longer but it will wash better, be quieter, more economical, spin better and this list goes on and on and on!
Good luck

PS - By all means look online for prices but then go to your local independent Miele / Siemens specialist to buy as they would generally be able to match any online price you find and offer you a better service as well.0 -
Thanks

I think we will probably go for the miele, but I am now tempted by this AEG, as its a 1600spin, quiet, and 8kg load....
However-it's more expensive than the others (when you think in terms of £/year warranty)
Also-7kg vs 8kg.... There are only 2 of us, but I seem to do a lot of washing. Would 8kg wash sheets, duvet, pillowcases &towels in a single load-or would I still need to do 2 loads for them?0 -
Hi
Don't be tempted - Miele is miles better.
Also don't worry too much about load capacities. To be honest it is often marketing BS. Many manufacturers have been known to force large loads into their machines to claim high numbers but in fact the wash quality at this load size drops dramatically. Miele however will never compromise the wash quality - it is the number 1 priority whatever the load size.

Just to say I had a reply to my email, and you can buy it from anywhere, as long as its one of the ones on the Siemens siteThank you for your e-mail.
You do not need to purchase an appliance from a specific retailer to qualify for the 5 year promotion, you simply need to purchase a new appliance that is listed on the list of applicable appliances on our website and then either complete the form or ring the registration line.
Just in case this helps anyone0 -
John Lewis will match a competitors price if they are a bricks and mortar store. So you get JLP service and warranty but at the reduced prices. You need to click their 'never knowingly undersold' icon on the website. They take about 24 hours to get back to you.0

I can get the Miele from a local store for 940, including delivery, installation, testing and removal of old appliance, so I think thats made the decision for me
They are also Miele service engineers, so we have 2 ports of call if something does (hopefully not!) go wrong...
Thanks for all the help
