Hi wilkies5,
the only way I can really help with this is if you take david39s advice.
In terms of what I can offer on here.
If a Qube engineer was booked you would have had to accept the charge before the appointment was confirmed and it should also have been made clear that the engineer would be checking your internal wiring not BT owned wiring.
I would need to listen to the call in order to take this further and here on MSE forum there is no way for me to obtain the necessary information from you.“Official Company Representative

So what was the point of sending an engineer to check the customers set up (something which the OP had already done & he's connected into the NTE Test Port) when it's clear that an Openreach Engineer is required due to the nature of the fault?
I think it's Talk Talk sending one of their engineers (Qube) which are chargable by them, instead of sending the correct Engineer out in the first place.0 -
Hi spike7451,
i can't comment on the specifics as I have no idea what led to this engineer being booked.

rubbish it the BT rep can get info so can you ...
This is how you do it, you ask the OP to pm you or email you the details you need and then you can then go off and find that phone call that was made and listen to it and see what was said.0 -

As the OP stated in his opening post, the fault lies with the NTE5 Master socket BACK towards the exchange. This was evident as the OP had connected into the test socket on the said NTE5,therefore sending a Qube engineer was a exercise in wasting time as the fault was outside the Qube engineers responsibility or expertise, thus the only engineer that would've been able to do anything is a BT Openreach Engineer.
Now I have came across this before working for BBand ISP & the issue lies with inadequate staff training. The last company I worked for also used Qube engineers of which no one I worked with knew anything about them, and the training given was often contradictory to what I know as a Telecoms Engineer. But that's neither here nor there.
If your call center rep was trained properly,he would have known that it was a BT Openreach engineer that was required & not a Qube engineer, all he succeeded in doing was making more money for TTalk & Qube, nothing more.0 -
.....hence the lack of training! If your call center rep was trained properly,he would have known that it was a BT Openreach engineer that was required & not a Qube engineer, all he succeeded in doing was making more money for TTalk & Qube, nothing more.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
As far as I can see, no money is due to TT or Qube. The appointment was arranged either negligently or wilfully without adequate professional diligence.... There is only a loop on the line when the phone is off the hook.0
