The SERV light on a Renault is not a service light. I have a Clio and it's an engine management / emissions light. I think your first step is to get the fault code read either by taking it to a garage or buying a cheap code reader on eBay. I got mine for £40 and it's great.

It is probably not a major problem btw.

Nice to see a reply to your problem, but you are probably better posting in motoring part of the MSE forums.

Try topping up your oil, it can be that too.

It is very weird - we checked it and the little device comes back with no faults. The serv lights comes only every now and then. but not everytime. i found somewhere that it may be linked to engine fluid? checked all fluids and all is fine. angine oil seems fine, so no idea what it may be. any idea anyone?
  • Thanks everyone.. I got it sorted. You will not believe but it indicated low pressure in one of the tyres. Thank you anyway!!
