Windows emulator programs for mac

For the past month I have been using Crossover on my Macbook Pro to run Windows applications. However the 30 day free trial has finished and before I buy the full version, I was wondering if there was anything else I could download. Either off the internet or something I could download of the Mac app store which is similar to crossover.

Many thanks :)

Search for darwine, the OS X version of wine which is what crossover is based upon I believe.

I think they simply call it Wine now rather than Darwine http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX/Installing

Crossover is the commercial version of Wine.

Personally found using a virtual machine a better solution on my macs than trying to emulate windows but of cause then not only do you have the cost of the software to run the virtual machine but also the license for Windows itself.
  • Have you considered making your mac a dual-boot? sure you need a windows license, but don't you need such for these emulators anyway?
    If unaware, check out bootcamp.

Try VirtualBox. It's free but you do need a copy of windows.

Bootcamp? That is great for dual-booting and if you use VMWare Fusion you can run that instance of Windows whilst logged into OS-X so you get the best of both worlds.
