After a lot of research I'm jumping ship from British Gas after my fixed rate expires and I'm thinking of going with Atlantic. Does anyone have any experience/views of this company? Thanks.

You really need to post *exactly* which tariff you are thinking of.

I've been with Atlantic for years and have no intention of leaving them.

Their prices always work out the same as others and I get 1 month payment back each December as a loyalty bonus.

I've also always had very good experience when having to call them on the rare occasion.
  • i,m currently with atlantic on the no standing charge...22.491p per kWh (day) 15.099p per kWh (day) above 900 kWh p.a 6.258p per kWh (night

had no problems with them, you get one months free direct debit payment at month 13, providing you stay with them for 12 months,

only reason i,m leaving is because npowers sign online 23 is around £150 cheaper overall

I'm just in the process of leaving Atlantic. They were OKish, but I'm not terribly impressed that they've not sent me a bill for 6 months. I was also not impressed when I called them to say I was leaving and was offered a fixed tariff which they said would cost me 9% more than I'm currently paying - when I checked later I discovered that in reality it would have been a 30%+ hike.

Their deferred discount may also not be quite as good as it sounds at first, as it limits when you can switch (and still receive the discount).

Good point. I was just waiting for the OP to say which tariff, then I was going to mention that.

Commonly tariffs from NPower and Atlantic feature "deferred discount".

If your combined monthly payment is £100 On the 13th month £100 in paid direct into your bank account yours to spend I received it when I was with them, good customer service, free phone.

What matter is the total price you pay per year, not what discount they may apply. If their tariff is £120 more than the cheapest, then a £100 discount still doesn't make it the best!
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

If you are happy you are happy but the 13th month payment is a "deferred discount", forfeited (ie £100 not yours to spend) if you do not complete 12 months custom.

Atlantic call it a "loyalty bonus". I say they are having a laugh. Tariff handcuffs would be more accurate.
