How to pay £0.02???

All very good ideas
I'm highly tempted to make it as ridiculous as I can for them, and creating my own invoice for 98p is very appealing! I can just see the look on their faces, especially with a nice big bold red header and a 14 day deadline before I instruct bankruptcy proceedings and the like!
However, I'm really rather keen to get that all important letter from them that tells me I owe nothing as fast as possible. I think they bank with Barclays - If I put 2p direct into their account, can they assign a reference to that 2p that tells them its for my account? I know some banks cant do this. I have a suspicion that Barclays can though. Ill give it a bash. If that doesnt work, ill send them a quid and email them to tell them to send me a cheque back.....#KiamaHouse0 -
You could always call them and tell them to write the 2p off though make sure the telephone call is free otherwise you will be paying more for the call. Or wait until the call you to chase the 2p payment and then tell them to write it off!0

My idea was blatantly stolen from here: http://b3ta.turb0t.net/questions/theman/post7635260

pay them by credit card over the phone, then when they say they refuse the payment...Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I'd complain to them saying that they did not respond to your letter (I'm assuming that it was a letter) where you asked them how to pay £0.02.
Within the complaint letter, advise them that if they don't respond with a suitable method of payment, or write off the debt, then you will be forced to go to the Financial Ombudsman Service. This should get them moving as (if I have been advised correctlty) the bank will have to pay a fee to the FOS for any cases that they investigate.
Just ensure that you keep all literature in case they try to apply charges to your massive debt.

I imagine this as a handwritten note with a 2p sellotaped to it...as scrawled and confusing as you can manage. Maybe a bit of 'this is my favourite 2p I have had in a while, please take care of her, she has served me well'. Please post a picture if you do this.
I am currently being sent demands for people who aren't me for £0.00. Not sure how that will be settled. Lol.0 -
Simply send them £1.02 then you will get a refund for £1, case closed.0

Wait till you are back at work and send a cheque or if you really want your finances settled early...pop into your workplace and access your chequebook....why give yourself unneccessary grief....or is that what you want?0

Companies engaging in this sort of stupidity deserve (and need) to be punished. It's the only way that we can ever hope to restore common sense and sanity.
You should do whatever costs them the most money to settle. Their entire business model is based on recovering as much money as cheaply as possible. To punish them you need to do the total opposite.
For a start, don't pay it. Let them write to you, send people round, make phone calls. Just keep telling them you're not paying it. Each time they do something stupid (try and collect two pence) it will cost them at least 100x more to attempt it.
Therefore their continued stupidity will be at their continued cost and not yours. Eventually if their stupidity continues they will attempt to open a claim at a county court against you, which would be a very desirable situation to be in.
It's likely the claim would be struck out immediately for being so ridiculous, but it would allow you to then to claim to the judge that this debt collector is a vexatious litigant and that will have all sorts of problems for them and their debt collection if the judge agrees.
I can't put much value on having a letter saying you're debt free when you know you already are. I find it much more valuable to make these cretins pay - literally!0 -
Write to them stating you wish to pay and would like to come to an arrangement
Don't put a stamp on it and offer them 1p per month for 2 months
Then send a cheque each month for 2 months (un stamped)
Wait until they respond to you and ask them to deal in writing only
Tell them you want a confirmation of monies recievedbaldly going on...0
