How many posts before I can use a URL?

Hi
I have just tried to make my first post by providing a link to a 2 for 1 voucher but I got an error message saying it isn't possible to put URL's in a post when you are a new user.
Does anybody know how many times I have to post before I can do this?
Thanks
Rich

It is based on their formula that they won't divulge as its intended to stop people just working around it to be able to post spam. It looks at both post count and length of time on the site.
You can post the URL as text if you put spaces in it so it isn't a direct link, and if its worthwhile usually someone with longer on the site will pick it up and make a link in a subsequent posting. However if its a link to something you will make money personally from, don't bother, you'll just end up getting banned!
ETA - just looked at your profile. This is not a place you can promote your own loyalty website - you will get pretty quickly kicked off for that.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
yes , if you are attempting to self promote your own site I am afraid its not allowedEx forum ambassador

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I'll try putting it in with spaces (I did consider this but thought it wouldn't look good for a newbie)WestonDave wrote: »just looked at your profile. This is not a place you can promote your own loyalty website - you will get pretty quickly kicked off for that.
I'm not promoting my own website - why do you think I am?0 -
I'm guessing because the letter from Asda addresses you as Richard0

Obviously because it's my blog?!?
I must be missing something here - collecting loyalty points is a hobby of mine, as is blogging. I recently decided to combine the two and start a blog about loyalty programs. When I joined the MSE forum I thought it would be relevant for me to mention my blog as my website. I don't understand what is wrong with this, please can someone explain?
I started this thread because I wanted to link to a 2 for 1 voucher (on a different website BTW, it's not my blog) which I have since done.
Any advice is appreciated, thank you0 -
Unfortunately you cant even promote your own blog or web site either0

Although you might think you are doing everyone a great favour, most people here don't look at it that way.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
