Connction to LG HDMI port now causing BSOD

Hi all

I recently got an ASUS P8H67-V motherboard ( and intel i5 2500 if that is useful) running Windows 7 64-bit Professional.

I had it connected to my LG 37LH3000 via the HDMI ports and it was working fine at 1024 x 768 :j

Stupidly I decided to try the other screen resolutions to see what it would work with :o

I got to one that didn't work and the PC reset itself after the usual 15 seconds to the previous setting. So far so good, however, I then went for the same resolution again and this time I got a BSOD.

Since then - every single time I plug the cable in (whether from boot or "hot plug" is causes a BSOD.

If plugged in during boot - I get the Windows loading stage - the one with the "flying" colours - and then the screen goes blank and I get "No Signal" until the PC crashes and reboots.

If plugged in after bootup - I get the "Device Connection" sound and the main monitor flickers and then loses it's signal and the LG TV states "Trying to connect" (I think) displays the BSOD and then the PC reboots.

So - is there a way of removing the current LG setup that it seems to be defaulting to when I plug the cable in? or down grade the default resolution it seems to be trying to use?

Just for clarity - I used to get the "Device Connection" sound and then be able to choose the LG from the Display Properties (after doing a "Detect" - i.e. it would not by default use the LG as it's main display)

Hope that ramble makes sense... :rotfl:

Its a driver issue. Start in safe mode (press f8) and sort it from there. Start by updating the motherboard graphics drivers.

I am running the latest driver (also tried downgrading to the driver that is on the ASUS site - but both drivers have worked before)

One question for the Safe Mode idea - if I can change settings during Safe Mode - are these then carried forward to a "Normal" boot?

    Ok - problem solved :j

Booted to Safe mode after a crash but it would not let me do much because it only loaded "Default Monitor".

Rebooted and pressed F5 during the boot and it asked me to select an Operating System (only option was Windows 7), perform advance memory checking (I think that is what is said) or press F8 for Advanced options.

Pressing F8 at this stage revealed more options than first seen.

Of those included was something along the lines of "Boot using Low Graphics" which basically put it into a very (very) low resolution.

Whilst in this mode, I connected the LG TV and it beeped as the Device connected but the desktop stayed with the PC Monitor :j

Going to "Screen Resolution" (Right click from Desktop) I can once again select between my Acer monitor and my LG TV :j
