Help to diagnose faulty AEG washer dryer

I have an AEG Lavamat Turbo washer dryer. The washing machine works no problem at all. But when I try to use the dryer it either starts to work normally (i.e. heats up etc) and then trips the RCD in the fuse box, or it runs the full drying cycle but the clothes come out stone cold and still wet. Am I right in assuming that this is probably a faulty dryer element? Will it be easy to locate and replace?
Thanks.
Thanks.
