Natwest subscribe to "faster payments" so the money should go straight away.

That is subject to maximum limits as well though, isn't it? For NatWest I think it might be £10,000!!!

The £10,000 online/phone limit is the same for most (all?) banks.
I did chaps with first direct over the phone...

Ok. I'm with HSBC (which First Direct are part of I think) and the chap there told me I had to go to a branch and one of the chaps there would be able to do a CHAPS >£10k for me.

I did a CHAPS for £24K and change last week for a deposit. It cost £25 and was logged before 11am so went within minutes. The solicitor was ringing me to tell me it was with him before I'd walked the 400 yards back to the office. I never considered doing it online, I just assumed that you had to go into the branch and do it face to face with some form of ID handy. Nationwide only asked for my driving licence and then barely even glanced at it. It was all over in 10 minutes flat.

Nationwide charged me £10 for a bankers draft that I took into the solicitors (The bank and Solicitor are just around the corner from each other)

This saved me £15 as a chaps charge is £25.
Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.
