Can anyone please advise . I can get wifi at home on laptop but my phone and kindle won't pick it up. Virgin won't help as I got modem off eBay. thanks

I suspect you need to change the Router to broadcast on 2.4Ghz instead of 5Ghz. This should be in the wireless settings area on your router config pages. If you need any help with this you'll have to send the make/model of your router for further info0

This. Sounds like your laptop is wireless "N" enabled but your phone/kindle aren't.
If this doesn't solve your problem we need more information, make and model of your router for a start.0 -

Same as any ISP.It's impossible for an ISP to have information on every brand of router,dongle,wireless card ect on the market.If you choose not to use the kit supplied by the ISP,then you should go to the manufacturer.Another reason they don't provide support for non-supplied kit is because if they broke it,they'd have to replace it.0 -

do your other devices see the network but fail to connect?
If so, it may be you have to manually configure WiFi on these other devices.Friendly greeting!0 -

No the phone and Kindle don't pick up any wifi. They just keep scanning.
