in Credit cards
I got a lloyds tsb duo credit card and have just received my first bill. I have internet banking and the account appears on there normally. How can I pay the balance on the credit card using a debit card? I can't seem to find the link to do so.

Don't think you can pay it via Debit Card as such - You need to set it up as a Payment via Internet Banking so it goes via Faster Payment/BACS.David
£1 of debt is too much for me!0 -
It won't go via faster paymentsIt's a health benefit ...0

The only way to pay a Lloyds credit card via a fast method is to pay cash over the counter at a Lloyds bank. The credit will be actioned overnight and dated when paid meaning this is one of the few cards which can be safely paid ON the due date. All other methods will take 3-4 working days to process.0

Why don't banks let you pay with debit cards, virtually every shop accepts them yet banks don't. When I opened a barclays isa they wouldn't let me deposit with a debit card, only accepted a cheque (weird considering they want to phase them out)
exel1966, thanks for the advice, I'll remember it in the future. Still got more than half a month to pay this one, I intend to pay it as soon as I get the statement0 -
I pay mine using the payments system. It's been ages since I set it up but I think I went to the payments - pay a bill section and then just put in the details. Once you have set it up as recipient you can just send however much you want each month. I always test new recepients first before trusting that the payment would all be fine, so if I were you I would pay the first bill over the counter and then try paying say £5 of your next bill off much earlier to check it all goes through. (This is not any reflection on Lloydstsbs payment system and everything to do with my paranoia about my ability to get the account numbers correct).
It usually takes several days to show on my credit card statement, but the payment date shown on my card statement is always the next working day from when I paid the bill. This is from a LTSB current account so I'm not sure if it would take longer from a different banks systems.0 -
Here are the steps
- Log onto internet banking.
- Next to the account you want to debit, click 'Make a Payment'
- Click 'Set up a new recipient'
- Where it says 'Popular searches', click' Lloyds TSB Credit Card
- At the bottom it will say 'Enter company details manually', click that
- Type in the company name. E.g 'LTSB Cr card' or 'Credit Card' (this is what will appear on your statement)
- The sort code is on the bottom of your bank giro credit and will either be 772900 or 772800
- The account number is always 00000000
- The reference number is your 16 digit card number (with the airmiles account you can enter either the amex/mastercard number here)
- Enter your amount
- Press continue and follow the security procedure which involves a call being made to you and a security number you have to enter
- Payment leaves usually the next working day and credits your card that same day (it takes internet banking a bit to update your credit card balance but the date will be correct on the credit).

I have nationwide internet banking for my current account but the steps were very similar. Hopefully the payment goes through0
