Our Playstation 3 fan is very noisy. I have hoovered around the vents which improved the noise level. The fan is now less noisy. Naturally there has been a built up of dust inside the unit.

Is there anything else i can do?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

Blasting compressed air (can's are a couple of quid) through might help.

or take it with you next time you go out in the car to get fuel & blow it through with the garage air-line. When you see how much crap comes out you'll be pleased you didn't use a can indoors
  • You need to do a fan clean on it. Its on you tube how to do it but its not suitable for some models. Basically you make sure there is no disk in it. Turn it off at the back. Hold the eject button and switch it back on. The fan should come on and blow the dust out the back. We did it on ours and it made it quieter.

Had a look at youtube and have decided to stick to using a hoover method. At one stage will get compressed air in a can and blow through the vents.

There is a lot of negative views on youtube about this method. Thanks for mentioning this it made me find other clips on how to clean the PS3

A hoover will not remove compacted dust-you need to use a can of compressed air.

Staples do it for about £7 I think. Or try any office supplies shop or ironmongery store. Robert Dyas?
