Paypal Currency confusion

I wonder if anyone can help... My OH has just purchased an item from a website and when the item went through the Paypal checkout it came up in US dollars. Checkout was completed and the item has been dispatched to us. Today, we have received an email from the seller demanding more money, as he forgot to change the settings on his paypal which means he has received the amount in US dollars rather than GBP. As far as we are concerned the contract has been fulfilled, payment has been made at the point of sale (Paypal checkout), payment was accepted, and the item has been dispatched and we have received it.

Does the seller have a right to now demand more money?
Any advice on this would be much appreciated,
Many thanks.

Yes why not, you havn't paid him the full amount, you have paid him the dollar amount, it's now up to your goodwill whether or not you do the right thing.

Contract is concluded, so seller has no rights currently unfulfilled. Your choice:
    • Ignore him
    • Offer the requested amount
    • offer to return the item for the full amount paid, including carriage to you, plus carriage back.

    I disagree.

The buyer made an offer of x price (ie order total), buyer accepted but because the wrong currency was set has therefore underpaid.

They are not asking for more money, they are asking for the remaining invoice balance that has gone unpaid.

Contract formed on dispatch. They made an invitation to treat. You made an offer to pay. Both were accepted, and the goods sent.

    Enjoy your bargain :)
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
