This smacks of ill thought out / mass advertised /system can't cope, !!!! up again.

If over loading the site was the issue, staggering access would have been eminently sensible. It could have been achieved simply by pre-advertising the fact eg 20,000 codes will be released in 4 batches of 5,000 at hourly intervals from 9am. People could have tried their luck in the time window convenient to them and it might have spaced it out a bit.

If fairness is the issue,as claimed, first come first served (preferably with controls to prevent repeat sign ups) is completely fair.

Altering the pre-arrangements, at the last minute, to a state of uncertainty, is fair to no one and makes the company look inept , which is a pity because this was a very generous offer.

I'm one of those who also signed up after 9:50am, so not sure if I'm registered for the 1000 loyalty points.

I can forsee a problem here where people sign up again using another email address and end up with 2 or more accounts with £10 credited. So we then accidently become part of the greedy gang

Did you read the article? It's not a code. You get 1000 loyalty points in your red hanky account in 72 hours time, which you can then use against a purchase through the site.
