Hidden Tariffs?

Hi guys,
I have had to get a bit of advice on this and have got this response.
We advertise Fixed Price April 2013 for all customers and Fixed Price October 2013 for existing customers only. Both products are fixed at our standard E.ON Energy Plan rates (as at 13 September 2011). We believe that at a time of rising prices it is reasonable to offer a preferential product to our existing customers.
Sorry I don't have anything further.
Helena“Official Company Representative
I am an official company representative of E.ON. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
The purpose of starting this thread was to discuss the possibility of some 'hidden' tariffs, not to wind up MillicentBystander/Operastar/1carminestocky/Carespress(plus any other names he uses in support of UW)
As said in the opening thread, with most computer systems there are glitches and given the ability of some Utility company's computer to foul up up straight forward accounts, surely it is possible that there are some tariffs that have escaped some rises!
A minor example occurred yesterday and shown in the UW thread. There are several comments on the disappointingly high rise in their unit(kWh) electricity prices - some 23% in London iirc, however in the Midlands although the Standing charge has risen the unit(kWh) electricity price has not risen at all!. Is that by design or a computer glitch?0 -
sadly Pincher not anymore - since v2 was pulled sunday at midnight0

LOL. Eon's save online 9 has so far escaped the rises and is currently the cheapest tariff (by some margin) for average users but even that super duper cheap tariff pales into insignificance when we look at the incredibly cheap tariff you are claiming to be on - but won't name. Like I said, to make the savings you claim in the 'other thread' on even the cheapest current (and rise escaping) tariff your consumption would have to be 70,000 gas and 10,000 electric but you've already previously stated your consumption is somewhere in the region of 42500 gas and 7500 electric IIRC so, My God. this 'hidden, secret tariff' is some cheap deal.:cool:
I thought MSE was all about sharing good deals so why the reticence in this instance? And if you aren't prepared to share, why start the thread in the first place? The timing of you starting this thread after making the afore-mentioned claim (precisely 44 minutes after) is just so curious.......entertaining all the same.0 -

I know. I mean it's an obvious fix that I could have switched to weeks ago, but decided not to because I don't want to catch
Ecoli Di-Fficile, like some other posters not too far from this thread. :rotfl:0 -

I don't normally reply to your posts, but I will make an exception!
You have obviously not taken in the following:indeed it was quickly withdrawn after I switched. It was also not available in some regions.
I am not going to reveal the tariff/company for fear of causing trouble for my contact, also any publicity could mean they massively increase the prices on this tariff – sadly it is not fixed. In any case I am fully expecting that it won’t remain undiscovered for long.
I obviously intended sending you a PM with details so you could join but sadly it was withdrawn;)
I claim no credit for getting on this tariff, in fact I was sceptical. The reason for starting the thread, was to illustrate that there was at least one tariff that had 'got under the radar'. I suspect there are others!
There is little point in trying to find out about my tariff. Wouldn't it be better to use your talents to discover if there are others that have similarly evaded detection? For instance the Midlands Electricity tariff of THAT company - is that by design or accident?
P.S.
When my tariff is rumbled and increased, as I suspect is inevitable, I promise to give you details.0 -

Fair enough, I'm just going by what I read.
I'm staying put with E.On because they haven't messed up yet,
but I keep an eagle eye on them.0 -
I keep an eye on flight offers from here to the Far East quite often.
I used to fly to Shanghai for £300 including tax return, but it's more like £450 these days.
Recently there was a £650 inc tax six months return to Taiwan by Cathay Pacific that I just missed. Regular price £800. These offers come and go really quickly, presuambly when there are too many unsold tickets on a particular route for a certain time period.
If you imagine the regions as a battlefield across which the energy companies compete, then I have no problem in believing there are localised battlegrounds where localised price cuts appear intentionally. However, I expect somebody was dozy when updating a price table somewhere. Some other staff member probably noticed the anomally, and tipped off HER "friends".
I ordered a Miele washer/dryer three years ago from John Lewis, because the John Lewis website said "10 year Warranty by Redemption". This was changed to 5 years in a couple of days, but not before I went into the local John Lewis, and showed the senior saleswoman the webpage. They couldn't honour the warranty, because it was a mistake, but they gave me £100 off for the disparity.
So yes, there are opportunities everywhere if you are sharp, but not everyone has the time to keep checking.0
