Return of Deposit - Deposit Protection Service

Hello all,
I recently moved out of a flat and made sure the place was clean and tidy before leaving (I have taken photos). The only small things wrong was some bluetack from posters on two walls and the inside of the oven door, which had some dirt I could not remove with oven cleaner. All bills where paid including water and council tax, letters had been provided to the landlord.
My deposit is held by the Deposit Protection Service. Today I rang the agency and said I would put in a request for repayment online this evening. This can be done by either the tenant or agency. When I came home the the agency had already made this request from their side which was fine.
However my deposit was about £400 and they want to take £70, from me leaving with just £330. There was an option to agree or disagree. Of course I disagree and think this is a disgrace. I have not proceeded online with my disagreement yet as I wanted to ask you your opinions on the matter and what you have done in your own similar cirumstances.
For me I want to use the ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution Service) provided by the Deposit Protection Service to get all of my money back. If not I will take it to the small claims court.
Thankyou in advance for your views,

Why do they want to take £70? Surely they must have specified their reasons/costs?0

chris_m is essentially right - although possibly a little terse. The LL needs to declare what the deductions are for - don't defend the blutack or the oven unless the LL raises it, just defend against the deductions he requests.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
