Strider etc - In Car Camera's on a budget?

After nearly being hit head on by a speeding Audi coming round the bend on the wrong side of the road on the estate tonight I mentioned to OH that perhaps how our luck is going lately installing a camera wouldn't be a bad idea.
I know strider publishes his vids you You Tube but all I'm looking for is something simple to record our journeys that can be re-recorded over the next day. I don't want to spend a fortune. I have power to that side of the car so could wire it in as well.
Any recommendations?

Checkout reviews of cameras on youtube, They show actual footage and give real life experiences of using the devices.
All the cheaper ones have flaws of one sort or another, Some say HD but they are clearly not and one i do remember
saves the film every 5 minutes which takes a few seconds, It completely missed one near miss the tester had.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
AutoExpress magazine last week ran a feature on in car cameras, but they were all over 150 quid, which is steep for the sort of use a private punter would give it.0

I suppose it depends on how you look at it, £150 may be cheap if it records an accident and proves you innocent, that said, I cant afford £150 so cheap and cheerful.
Never thought to have a look on youtube, thanks forgotmyname, there first then off to ebay I reckon.0 -

Funnily enough thats what I was looking at here, but cheaper:

I currently use this, lots on ebay, so find the cheapest...... Recharges from USB, records for nearly 2 hours on a full charge, so no need for power, but can also run from 5v usb power adaptor plugged into your cars lighter socket. Has served me VERY well for the last 18 months (once you work out the bugs/quirks).
Im now moving to a new system with a bullet cam + screen + recorder, auto records when the car is turned on, can also auto record on motion/sound detection, retails around £200 and I think all in all it's worth going for. Plus I can drop it into a backpack when I go mountain biking, as it's got a remote control that can be strapped to your arm.
Won't go into action until i've figured out how to make a decent mount for it, without paying the stupid money retailers are asking.
The cheap one's suggested above may look like a bargain, but to me they look as though they'd fall apart on the first speed bump.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Brilliant idea, convict yourself of careless driving when you are involved in an accident and the police seize it as evidence and work out you were speeding, as most do, all of the time. The accident is all your fault then...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
