Arena Kitchens/Alaris - Recommended or not?

  • Had a Mereway kitchen fitted by Alaris very recently and had no problems. Very good design, good fitters and office staff. Sandy the installation manager made regular visits to check all going well. Would have no problems recommending them.

I recently bought a Pronorm kitchen from Alaris. Before delivery and installation, I would not have hesitated to give them the highest recommendation. While we prevaricated over our decision, {Edited by Forum Team} was fabulously patient, friendly and competent. If everything had gone smoothly I might be giving them a great recommendation.
HOWEVER, be warned that their 'after-sales' service is not nearly so good. Once they have your money, standards seem to drop significantly. We needed to order a couple of extra units (our error, not Alaris's). There have been numerous delays, difficulties trying to speak to the right people on the phone (or anyone at all - often the phone for 'after-sales' just rings repeatedly with no-one to answer), trouble with the worktop installation etc. It has been VERY frustrating and time-consuming.

Used a recommended Mereway premium partner to install a Mereway kitchen, abosolute rubbish install.
Was left with 5 leaks, off cuts of plinth used as filler panels, worktops not fitted correctly and loose when you leant on them, very poor plastering and plinths just jammed under cabinets.
Had a notch cut out of the end of a worktop so a cabinet door would close and many other faults.
When I complained to Mereway about their recommendation they did apply some pressure but they still recommend this clown.

  • I currently have no kitchen since Alaris started in October, the design and installation is shocking. I would run for the hills, this is not a pleasurable experience and their attitude towards customers is so poor it seems a legal route is the only option left. FYI we promoted them to another family member which resulted in them paying 2k compensation and very unhappy with the experience!!

My mother in law had a shocking experience with this company recently and they have since gone into liquidation.{Text removed by MSE Investigator} Trustpilot has a lot of other unhappy customers that have also been caught out by them and it would seem that they have a history of this......buyers beware!!

My 80 yr old parents are suffering because of this company too. They paid thousands for their kitchen. Half way through they received a letter from Alaris saying they are no longer trading. They now have to try to get their money back through the credit card company and solicitors. Apparently they filed for insolvency back in 2016. How they can continue trading is beyond me, and probably verges on criminal. I wrote review on Trustpilot but it was immediately removed by Alaris
