Hi, I think your experience with BT was appaulling and to bring someone to tears simply during the course of an arguement with no backup evidence is just disgraceful. I hope your experiences with Tesco have been better - we certainly had no problemswith them during the short stint as a customer.

My personal experience with Bt over the course of the one month for installation of the line and 17 days as a customer was a mixed bag. Whereas no-one was actually rude, I would speak to someone who woud tell me one thing, only to be put through to someone at another department who would turn around and tell me the complete and polar opposite. Fortunately, this parlay ended up going in my favour, to BT's detriment, but as I did not actually do anything that I was not supposed to I see it as a justwhile mistake on their part.

I think it is a shame that the quality of information and training between departments is not standardised, as clearly such a policy would significantly reduce the stress and financial burden on not just the company but also the customer. Not to mention it would improve the company's reputation if everyone is singing the same tune.
Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.
  • I had a major issue with BT in 2004 where they decided to cancel (?) the DD and cut me off for it . When i contacted them to see why i couldn't ring out they said i had canceled the DD and they wanted the full bill paying their and then or they would prosecute me.
Hi Turning_into_scrooge, what was the issue with BT, if it was being billed for unknown numbers could you post them please.
  • It was just BT being usual idiots and saying i had canceled their DD when it was still active. I have a friend who had problems with BT a couple of years back where she got a phone bill for about £1000 with premium rate numbers on that she had no knowledge of phoning. BT didn't back down cut her off and she had to pay it in monthly installments but to this day she says she would never use BT again as she never called those numbers. They were all called when she could prove she at work 60 miles away, and there is only her at home, no partner, no children, electrician, etc etc. Says it all really.

BT used to be known for having a high standard of customer service, not any more. The past few years has seen a major decline in not just their cust service but their actual products as well. They don't seem to be bothered or interested in gaging back their reputation, they just simply have no interest in the customer now only making money. Tesco on the other hand have always been very polite and helpful, i have had no problems with them at all.

I take it you mean electrical interference. Modem i will agree with but burglar alarms usually call the service provider/call centre and don't need to know the time. Blue tooth can do this as well as cross lines which has been posted on www.NTLhell.co.uk recently. Regarding washing machines a take it you are talking about electrical interference. I just checked your post with a technician who is well up to date with technology. Sorry but BT doesn't wash it with me and never will.

    No - not electrical interference.
Vulnerable people can have fridges which 'call out' to carers etc if they haven't been used in some time - indicating the vulnerable person may not be eating correctly.
Washing machines can be connected to be interactive - text when a load has finished etc.
Obviously there are the likes of some digi boxes etc which can also be the cause.
Burglar alarms can have errors and dial 123 as a self test - not to check the time.

This used to be quite a common problem in belfast when the std code was 01232, sometimes people didn't press the 0 properly, or burglar alarms etc weren't programmed properly. If you have a fully itemised bill check for calls made round the same time to a number starting 0123....
