So confused and being a bit Nosey.
Hello all, thank you in advance for reading this. I have just seen on the news that N Power is now increasing their prices - well there's a suprise! I am with them. I knew it was coming, I've been looking at changing for a while anyway as I was wanting to try and save money. I've had a look on several websites, money supermarket, U Switch, N Powers own switching tool. The majority of them came out with N Power saving me money then one said EDF Energy. I'm trying to work out, if it is best to remain duel fuel as the ones I've seen hasn't made much a difference on the ones if I paid individually. I'm trying to wonder if it is best to go with the ones that are saying that it is guaranteed not to increase in price until 2012 for example but then there can be a hefty cancelliation. So very confused is it best to go for these, or are they likely to increase the bill again with my 'usage'.
Also now being rather nosey. How much do people who live on their own pay for their Gas and Electric? N Power have suggested that I pay £55 a month 20 for Electric and 35 for gas. I personally think this is a huge amount of money but I'm just curious to see if I am being overcharged or if this is normal for people on their own.
Thanks in advance.

Without posting your annual kWh usage its not possible for anyone to say if your DD's are 'normal' or not. You can't compare different people's usage, as consumption varies wildly according to lifestyle and the type and insulation of the property.
Post your annual kWh consumption, the type of property, method of heating and hot water, and someone can say if that is high or low.
However if you have gas CH and hot water, you would expect to pay more for gas than for electricity. But £1080pa for a dual fuel deal is about average for a 3 b/r property.
The comp sites won't give accurate results if you use monthly DD figures, you should enter your annual consumption. All the comp sites will allow you to compare dual fuel and non-dual fuel deals-just total the individual prices for the latter.
You've left it too late for the EDF Fixed Saver 2012-it was pulled on Sunday night. the only cheap fix left is the EDF 2014 one, which comes at a higher premium.
Finally, the fixed tariffs only fix the unit cost for the contract duration-you still pay for each unit you use.
A fix is not necessarily cheaper, you are paying to lock in for a period at a fixed price-you're buying security. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
As above, it's all dependent on the property, how many live there, if anyone is in during the day, tumble drier, freezer etc...you're paying a lot less than I am, but I'm on my cheapest possible tariff!0
