Ahh lots and lots of very happy holiday memories on the Isle of Wight!
Guarnard Pines is great, although Guarnard itself is a little quiet, but the site is lovely.

Lots of places to visit, Blackgang chine, Robin Hill, Wax Works museum at Brading, Alum Bay for your multi coloured sand and chair lift down the cliff, Osbourne House Queen Vics favorite place, (kids will love the swiss chalet there), Godshill Village, Shanklin, Cowes is great, don't forget it will be very busy there and generally on the island during cowes week (usually first week in August) but the fireworks are fantastic.

The funniest place we found was a small shop at the end of cowes esplanade that sells all the stuff from lost/left luggage from airlines, trains etc. A great laugh to see what people take in suitcases!!!! Don't know if it's still there but it really made us howl!

Happy days, have a great time you'll love it!

    Hi again,

I can't wait to go now, having read all of these posts! After thinking about it a bit more and looking at some sites, we're leaning towards Sandown. There is a site called the Fort Holiday Park, that seems to be in a really good location. Anyone got any experience of it that they could share, please?

Thanks for the idea of using Tesco's club card vouchers for the ferry! I've got a few of them and hopefully a few more by then!

Thanks again for all the lovely reminiscences.

Well, I have booked a week in August at that caravan park. Does look nice, even though I initially didn't fancy a caravan. £390.00 for the week, which I think is pretty good for August?

Anyway, now onto booking the ferry! Anyone got any rough idea of a good price? It seems to be about £100.00 that I'll have to pay, but I wonder if anyone knows of any clever ways to get it cheaper? Obviously, I'll also use my Tesco Points.

    Cheers!
