New WC on old style waste pipe

I'm having a bathroom refitted, and the original toilet bolts onto a soil pipe that emerges vertically from the floor. Modern WCs have an outlet that is horizontal so it will need a pan connector. The plumber says that this will mean the WC has to move forward about 4", and he will box in the back. Not a serious issue, but it does reduce floor space. Is there a pan connector that can reduce the amount the WC needs to be moved forward? I've seen swan neck ones, but they might interfere with the base of the WC. I'm looking at Lecico funiture.

Your plumber is right. This is a common problem. I am assuming you either had an old high level cistern or a non-coupled mid level cistern.
Unfortunately, your pan has to sit in front of the outlet in the floor and therefore will sit off the wall.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
What about one of these? :

You can still get the non-horizontal outlet (bottom outlet I think?) ones. There's one by Twyford (Alcona range) that you can get from City Plumbing, and probably other places too. It's about £25 more than the horizontal outlet one.

You can't avoid it. If it takes up too much space consider a short projection WC. Your alternative is to reroute the soil pipe - easy to say.

That is an option. Unfortunately the pipe goes down a fair way so it would cost ~£500 according to the plumber. He did say it might be more work than £500 would cover but he said they would cap the price. Not sure I think it is worth it.
Ah yes, look at the size of the karzy itself. Doh! Why didn't I think of that.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -

That might be the answer. Assuming it does not interfere with the WC base.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
