How much for new heat shield and cat converter?

My car needs anew heatshield and catalytic converter. Any idea roughly what this would cost inc. labour?

That's a bit like asking how much a new car costs.

A cat for something like a Ford Fiesta will cost you around £200 to £250, but if you want something for a sporty Mercedes or large BMW it will probably be double that (or maybe even more).

The labour charges would be just as variable depending on where you get the work done.

£873.23p + vat for the CAT and the shield is £132.19p + vat, Shield needs to be ordered and will take at least 3 weeks.

And remember that the rules on CATS is changing for the MOT next year and only approved ones will be passed.

Exhaust heatshield for a citroen C4 Hdi is about £20, eventually the metal fractures and they start to rattle a lot
Thats just one of several heat sheilds there are on cars.

£20 for a heatshield, No wonder citroen's sound like empty biscuit tins, Presume the rest of the car is made from the same part.

I can see a marketing oppurtunity opening-up here. Could be worth starting-up a cat hire shop. You need a new cat for your MOT, you pop-in, I fit a new cat for full market price, you get your MOT, return the car and I put your old cat back on and refund the original price minus £25.

Bargain, Are you a mobile fitter? If my car is seriously overfuelling can you fit 2 cats inline?

Or fit one outside the test centre so it passes before the new one fails.

I am going to compete with your service by hiring out a large bouncy castle filled with exhaust fumes from a decent car.
Plumb the exhaust in and open the valve at MOT time. Pass is guaranteed or your money back.
