Car Scrapping?
Hi Hope you can help me!
My car has finally given up and is now not willing to move from outside my house (still taxed and insured) Does anyone know how I go about getting the car scrapped? will they give me anything for the car and is there anything to watch out for?
Any help appreciated!
Thanks
Kitty x

Scrapyards will generally collect cars if asked.
What sort of car is it and what is wrong with it. It could be useful to someone for spares or repair (depends on whether it is a 20 year old, rotten as a pear, Austin Metro or a Bentley Continental GT with a seized engine;)).0 -
Some councils will also dispose of scrap cars as well0

Call a few local scrapyards. When I had to dispose of a car several weeks ago and made a few enquiries they ranged from no payment up to £120/tonne for collection. The one that offered £120 also offered £170/tonne if the car was delivered - well worth spending £18 on a day's insurance to drive it there, plus £4 on a train ticket to get home again.

I scrapped my old car through this site. Offered the best price even after ringing round, and was collected. You may do better with ebay if you can be bothered though. I got £140 for a Hyundai Accent so probably a similar weight to a focus, although it varies depending on where you live...0 -
I 2nd car take back. We have just scrapped our 51 plate Laguna 2 weeks ago, filled form in online. It was collected the next day and we received £190.

If there's more than a month left on the tax, send it back for a refund.0
