What is the average cost of living in a 2 bedroom apartment in Manchester?

I am currently living with a friend who owns his own place, and so I just pay a monthly charge that covers rent, electric, water rates etc, but will be moving in with my girlfriend soon, and would like to get an idea of what the charges are (typically) for a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 people working office hours.
Ignoring council tax (as i have found an apartment where this is excluded), what would be the monthly costs of tv license, water rates, electric, phone & internet, Maintenance charges
I estimate these costs as follows:
Water Rates - £40 per month
Electric - £40 per month
Phone & Internet - £20 per month
TV License - £15 per month.
Maintenance - £100 per year

Can anyone tell me if im on the right lines here, or if i am way out?

Thank you

Way out but for you it may be accurate. Maintenance is usually included with rent so it should be zero.

Electric is a bit low. Assuming it's electric heating try a bit more. Maybe £100 per month. Water rates are too high. My water bill is that every 3 months. Phone and internet is possible at £20 a month if you don't use it but I'd say it's a bit low. TV license is £145.50 per year or about £12 a month (after 6 months at £24 a month) or £38 every quarter.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • Hi Just to say if you or your girlfriend a mobile contract with orange, home internet is free.
Electric I would of said around £60
I am on a water meter for myself and 2 children (even though one can be a little shy when it comes to showering ) my washer seems to be on non stop, far more pre children! I pay £35 per month and I am in credit every time I get my bill so I reckon probably around £25 a month
tv licence as above and I diddly squat about maintaince charges!!
