My employer has not paid me

I wonder if anyone has any advice re: the above. My employer told me on my July pay day that he could not pay me and that the company was going into liquidation.
Since then I understand they have taken on someone else and although the company's still in difficulties, they are seeking to continue trading. How can I get what is owed to me? My partner is talking tribunals and all I want is the money owed?
Any help and or advice would be great.

From your note it appears you no longer work for the company? Write a letter stating that you expected your salary of xxx on xx July. Whilst you have been patient in waiting for the payment, it is now xx weeks since you should have been paid. State that if you do not receive payment within 7 working days, you will have no option but to seek legal advice and you will be seeking additional payment for costs incurred in recovering your salary.
It is not likely that you would get the latter, but I have used this in the past for friends and been successful.
Finally, ensure that it is delivered by either registered mail or hand delivery so there is no "it got lost in the post". It may be that the Company is trying it on by hoping you will let it slide and be out of time for claiming in ET.0 -
Thanks for all the comments/advice. I will follow them up and hopefully get paid!0
