Request for judgement in bike accident
Hello all,
Am hoping someone can shed some light on this for me?
In March I was involved in a bike accident and have been going through the process of taking the 3rd party to court to recover repair costs and injury payment for the accident.
The 3rd party was issued with the details of claim and had until the 25th July to issue a response to the claims.
As my solicitors hadn't had a reply we sent a "Request for judgement" form to the court asking them to award all costs by default, however after contacting solicitors yesterday they have said that although the courts have acknowledged receipt of the form they haven't done anything else with it.
Does anyone know how long it takes from filing a request for judgement form before you hear anything else from the courts?

The best you can do is to call the Court Office and ask. Some Courts are snowed under, others are less busy. All it takes is for one judge to retire/be off sick and the delays can be months. The man without a signature.0

Assuming the defendant didn't send in an acknowledgement or defence that arrived on the same day that your request for judgement did, then you should have got judgement that day.
As advised, if you know the case number, give the court a ring, but as they have acknowledged the request it will be going through the system. (Lots of people on holiday!)0
