Freezer keeps icing over!

So when we moved in the freezer needed defrosting which we did, that was in Feb 2011, now it keeps icing over whether we have loads in there or not. The door can sometimes not be shut probably as it bounces back but can just be pushed closed & the seals do stay together. The fridge however is another story, the door seals don't close together, there is a gap between the seals. Does the fridge affect the freezer?
Not sure what we should be doing, should we just defrost the freezer?
