My first thought was pie and mash - big slow cooked pot of pie filling, decanted into a couple of large pie dishes. Make your own pastry in food processor - so cheap and easy - and top with that, big bowls of mashed spuds and bowls of garden peas and help yourself.
But - then noticed it was in August. Thought quiche and salad - cheap and easy. Baked pasta dishes with lots of garlic baguettes - also great, but LOVE the idea of tagine. Quite unusual to do for so many people and very low cost but high on flavour and perceived quality.
What an array to choose from, your guests will be very lucky with any of those choices, all sound delicious!0 -

How about Chicken, Drumsticks or wings with either a barbeque or spicy sauce just put them out on a large platter, serve with mini corn on the cob, wedges or jacket potatoes, potato salad and coleslaw and some garlic bread.
A great pudding is to do a large tray bake of a basic sponge cake all in one layer any flavour you like, when it is still warm cover in jam slightly thinned down with a little water and sprinkle with dess coconut cut into squares this can be served with custard, icecream or just on its own you can warm it back up again for a few mins if serving hot.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480
