You can get all the data you need on various websites, I like Hargreaves Lansdown: http://www.h-l.co.uk/fund_research/fund_research.hl0 -
I dont think there are many people with access to a crystal ball, and an awful lot can happen in 10-15 years.
Past performance should not be seen to indicate future performance.0 -
I think this fund has done very well over the recent past. I put £11k into it in November and it's already worth well over £12k, so I'm not complaining.
Yes, past performance is no guarantee to the future but, for those of us with day jobs, it's as good a measure as any in deciding where to invest. Unless you keep an eye on the world ecomony 365 days a year, you have to base your decisions on something, don't you?
Across a period of 10 to 15 years, equities are 90% certain to oustrip cash/bonds anyway. By how much, depends on where you invest, obviously.0 -
It's a high risk primarily commodities based fund, like most of those focussing on Russia.Expect substantial volatility, as already seen.
Not a core holding in a serious investment portfolio: probably good for a punt, might appeal to the kind of people who liked tech stocks.

Its a high risk fund and worth including as part of your global emerging markets segment of your portfolio. Typically, that part of the portfolio is just a small part. For example, on a portfolio rated risk 4 (out of 10) the emerging markets segment would only be around 2% and global specialist 3%.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Over-hyped and, consequently, now overly large fund.
IMHO there are smaller, more nimble Eastern European funds with better prospects going forward.0 -

Any hints carnet? And what do you look for in a fund?
Not trying to catch you out, just genuinely trying to learn about this stuff."I don't mind if a chap talks rot. But I really must draw the line at utter rot." - PG Wodehouse0 -
the bigger a fund becomes, the more difficult it is for the manager to maintain outperformance.
Mr Woodford is the exception that proves the rule then?
Mr Bolton's fund seems have underperformed only since the split was announced.Trying to keep it simple...
