Weeks Self Catering - How much Money to take?

Hi,
Decided to go for a weeks self catering to Zante in september.
How much money should I take (there is 2 of us, so how much per person or total?)

We want to do 1 boat trip or excursion during the week? And maybe have dinner out most night, and eat breakfast and lunch in the room.

Any tips? I was considering taking some super doper noodles...etc

Thanks,

    Hi,

We always go SC to Rhodes in Sept, we have breakfast in but eat lunch & dinner out everyday. We usually have to pay for Air Con & have 2 or 3 trips & drinks in the day & evening. We always work on £100 per day but to be honest we always bring some back. We don't cut back when we are away & tend to have what we want but if you need to do it on less than you can. As you say taking things with you for lunch will cut costs. If you buy local brands you should be able to get bread & things for sandwichs at a good price.

    Have a good time.

restaurant prices are similar to the UK - so about £20 a head for two courses - the only thing thats slightly cheaper is wine, which is usually under £10 for a bottle of house

unless you plan on cooking all your own meals, or only eat crappy takeout type food, then £200 would be pushing it

i doubt you would be able to fit any organised trips into that budget, but might be able to use the local buses for days out to nearby towns

it can be done on £200 (bread/ham/cheese), but tbh you will be watching the pennies all the time, and it takes the fun out of the holiday

    Hiya,

Yes that's what we allow, but as said we eat out every lunch which by the time we have had a few beers it's around 20E. On an evening we have 1 starter, 2 mains & 1 pudding - I have starters OH has puds & we have a litre of wine. I'd say when we were away in June you were looking at around 8 -9E for most main meals, 10E for a litre of wine & about 3E for local Mythos. We save hard so we can enjoy without worry about the money & eating out on a night takes up the whole night for us. We don't go eat just bacause we have to, we expect to be in the taverns for most of the night but that's our preference. I'd say £200 for the week would be pusing it unless you were eating cheap takeaway food as flea says.
