Somewhere hot for Christmas

Hubby and I need a bit of a pick me up and something to look forward to. Any suggestions for somewhere to go to over Christmas for two weeks for just the two of us? We don't want to go to Egypt or Tunisia but would love to go to Hawaii but I know that can be very expensive.

So does anyone have any suggestions? :)

It would depend on what sort of budget you have, to where we could suggest really

Have you any idea on what you could afford?

    Thanks

Thanks for such a prompt reply Del. It's a while since I have booked something like this but am happy to do the trawling and making all the arrangement myself to save money, although saying that maybe there are some good deals via travel agents.

Sooo, the budget I guess £2k perhaps a bit more as I would imagine there is a premium over Christmas and New Year. Am I being wildly optimistic budgetwise?

Many package holiday hotels have compulsory gala dinners for christmas eve and new year's eve, which can be expensive if they aren't your thing. South Florida can have good weather.

Where r u in the UK?

Guess they might have to be if they are compulsory! We are in Rutland, so we have a few airports within reach, if that's why you asked? :)

Your probs a bit out for something like Hawaii

Your best bet would be looking at something closer to home

Can I ask why you dont want Egypt? (Tunisia in december wouldnt be hot)
You could stay in a proper 5 star all inclusive, in Egypt for your budget. Stella di mare beach in sharm is a lovely hotel. Egypt will also be hot in december.

Just had a really quick look and 2k wont get you 2wks in egypt over xmas and new year, had a nosy on expedia and you would need to double your budget minimum for Hawaii thats only B+B so you would also need spends.
Ive only looked on 1 site, so I'm not saying thats the cheapest but it gives you an idea.

Grenada in the Windward Islands (Caribbean). As warm as Barbados but outside the hurricane belt (not that hurricanes are a problem in December). It's half the price of Barbados but it's the same sun, sea and sand. The people are charming. AI is available.

I recommend this hotel http://www.rexresorts.com/grenada/grenada-hotels-grenadian-by-rex-resorts.html we have stayed there. It's on a very large site with extensive gardens and open spaces. The beach is miles long and unspoiled. There are apartments on the beach if you want to spend a little extra.

Don't be put off by the fact that it is very close to the airport - there is no airplane noise.
