Car Insurance query

Morning everyone.
I have a bit of a dilemma concerning car insurance. Will put details as bullet points as I tend to waffle a lot. :rotfl:
* buying a second hand car today
* Insurance for old car runs out on 2nd September-fully comp-
* Will have one year no claims bonus on 2nd September (been driving years with no claims but didn't own a car for three years hence only 1 year now)
* old car is being sold today.
What's the best way of going about insuring this new car?
Thanks
ETA: Just noticed that there is an insurance forum, so will post query in there as well. DOH!:o

Firstly - I will try adding the new car to your existing insurance ( it is not going to be free) - I am sure sure it is not possible to drive two cars at the same time - Do you have plans of getting rid of the first car come sept 2nd.I owe £3233 @ 0%0

Therefore it is case of a straight swap - depending on the type of car - you might get some money back -(MIGHT) OR an increase of premium . Is your insurance account managed online - as you can change car details online cause they might charge you an administration fee for using the call centres.I owe £3233 @ 0%0 -

My insurance is not managed online but I actually want to change insurers this year as their renewal (which I received this morning, ironically) on my old car is very high.
I am fully paid up with them for this year, it was a 10 month payment plan.
My problem with shopping around at the moment is the no claims thing as technically I don't have any but in a couple of weeks I will have a year. (fingers crossed)
I think I might give them a ring and see what they can offer me on this new car.
Bloody car insurance. A necessary evil.0 -
If your current insurer will cover the new car, expect an admin charge to change over cars, (as well as a premium adjustment) but this will (should!) be much less than the savings you will make by waiting till you have completed the insurance year and can then use your earned NCB on a new policy elsewhere.0
