MBNA Business Credit Card PPI

Options
Hi , several years ago I was prompted to apply for an MBNA business Credit Card. After successfully applying I was issued with a card. I began to use the card and then realised that there was payment protection insurance applied to it. I dont remember asking for it or being asked if i wanted it but never the less I was given it and over the years the premiums add up to a small fortune. I should add I was (and still am) self employed when this card was issued to me and I recently reclaimed a considerable sum from LLoyds TSB because I was self employed when they issued me with a credit card and PPI (my TSB business manager arranged it at the time !)

I am now thinking that despite the fact my MBNA card is a 'business' card the same may apply to it. Interestingly MBNA cancelled this insurance of their own accord several months ago.

Does anyone have any experience of reclaiming PPI from a 'business' credit card ?

I am familiar with the procedure for reclaiming but would appreciate any thoughts or comments on this.

Regards

    Hi there

I expect there are a few who have had dealings with these via business card insurance and will hopefully post up soon of their own experience.

So have you put in a reclaim on this one yet?

  • Hi, No i haven't put a claim in yet but I'm about to do so ......no harm in trying ! They have a handy re-claiming questionnaire on their website and i still have a template from the last ppi i reclaimed.

To qualify for FOS jurisdiction (if necessary) your business will need to employ less than 10 people and have an annual turnover not exceeding €2 million (yes that is Euros but it is more than the old limit which was £1 million).

Thanks, There is now just me in the business and if I take it easy I might just manage to keep the turnover under the limit ! :)

  • I just had a PPI reclaim offer from MBNA for £540 PLUS interest of £298 . I have been chasing this since february and to be honest it was an absolute nightmare.
I've had to lodge a formal complaint due to the fact the staff kept lieing to me. I'd estimate I've spent about 16 hours in total dealing with this over the months ( thats on the phone !!! ) I have made over 40 calls and have literally cried with the frustration of it all several times ( you try waiting in a queue for 45 minutes and then get cut off )only last week did I FINALLY nail down who was dealing with my claim, get an actual name and contact details. Since then things have ran smoothly and the case officer has been knowledgable and helpful. If your gonna do this get your contact asap.
  • Re my MBNA Business Credit card. I subbmitted a PPI claim back in January. On Saturday I received a cheque for £ 1700 in relation to PPI and interest incurred.

I filled out one form and made one phone call and that was it.
